32GB of Flash Storage on the Creative Zen–Available Now!
- December 20th, 2007 | Mobile TV

You may recall a post from a couple of weeks ago touting the new Creative Zen 32GB PMP (Personal Media Player). It not only sports up to 32 gigs of storage, it sports up to 32 gigs of flash-based storage. That means no moving parts–compared to most PMPs of that size (coughIPODcough), and no moving parts means much less battery drain. Up until now, the media players of 32 gigs or larger were only available in hard-drive-based formats. Lucky for us, technology is quite literally leap-frogging forward, allowing us to see this great little player from Creative. To top that, you can now order the 32GB Creative Zen PMP at Creative’s website. When you get there, be sure to click on the “32GB” option so you can see the proper $349 price.
Let’s compare for a moment–for $50 more you can pick yourself up an iPod Touch. What do you get for that $50 more? You get WiFi, which is a very cool feature, but you also get 16GB less flash-based storage. Now, let’s be honest, which is really more useful? The ability to surf the web in the palm of your hand? Or having access to 16 more gigs of your own music? If surfing the web from the palm of your hand is important, odds are you have a cell phone that already does that. So, really, the 32 gig Zen is the better buy.
What’s even nicer about the Zen is that it’s available now–just in time for Christmas. That means you can definitely order it now for that special you someone and have it by the big holiday.
