Oculon Hikari Pocket Projector Announced
- November 22nd, 2007 | Projectors
Oculon, maker of fine, or at least interesting, displays (mostly of the head-mounted variety) has announced a new video projector, called the Hikari, that comes to you in a most unusual size–that of a pocket. Yep, no more lugging around those giant, 52 inch LCD TVs on business trips. No more wrenching your shoulder from its socket as you haul that massive video projector from the car into your incredibly important meeting. Here comes a projector that not only fits in your pocket, but also in your hand.
Now, unfortunately, you won’t be able to put on a huge presentation with the diminutive projector–give it a wall about three feet away and it will provide you with a projected image of 24 inches. Not bad for something that fits in your pocket. You can see how it would be the ideal video projector for when you need to give smaller presentations in places that don’t have displays conveniently available. It’s also ideal for when you don’t want to drag a projector or LCD display with you everywhere you need to go. You just pull this little guy out of your pocket, connect it to your video source and you are ready to present. You could even run aniPod Touch or iPhone into it.
Now for the specs–there are two versions. One that will price in at $299–this is the Hikari Pro 920 which will come in VGA flavor, with a resolution of 640×480. Meanwhile the Pro 1440 will run you $399 but will provide you withSVGA goodness and a resolution of 800×600. According to an Oculon press release about the two Hikari pocket projectors, both devices will appear in the flesh at CES 2008, in January.
