SageTV, makers of such fine products as media center software and media center set-top boxes, now augments the talents of their products by adding a new HD media extender device to their product line-up. In today’s always-something-new consumer gadget culture, it’s very difficult to keep up with all of the multimedia devices it is possible for one to own. So, if you happened to be wondering just what the heck a “media extender” is, you’re not alone. Now, in the old days of media consumption, if you wanted to watch TV or a video in another room, you’d either run a really long cable or just buy a second VCR and set it up in your bedroom or kitchen. Ah, those were the simple days.

It the 21st Century, along comes SageTV’s line of media extenders which are basically Apple TVs without the hard drive inside. Soon after that, along comes SageTV’s new High-Def media extender, the STX-HD100 which is a hot little HD-streaming device. Not only will it stream HD from any device on your LAN (Local Area Network) but the SageTV STX-HD100 comes equipped with two USB ports so you can plug in external hard drives, or even a thumb drive and play your media there.

So, now, if you want to watch a video in bed and have one of these bad boys on top of your bedroom-based HD TV you can just connect to your media over the network. Essentially, it means you won’t have to lift a finger to watch that video in another room.
