Would You Watch Mobile TV On Cell Phones?

LVL Studio asks would you watch television on a cellphone? As I’ve said before, I certainly wouldn’t - IPTV yes, mobile TV no. I tried watching music videos on a 320×320 pixel Palm Treo 650 screen and it was a terrible experience. But as LVL Studio discusses, Disney Media seems to think you will. Not just music videos and small TV show clips but your fave series.

Seriously? First, they’d better understand that they are cutting their market to the below-30 crowd. After that age, the eyes gradually decline in ability. I find small screens induce eyestrain and migraines for me. Secondly, while the current youth generation and half-generation may be willing to try crazy things if it has to do with technology, has Disney considered how the eyesight of these people will be affected long-term? I doubt it. If what I say holds credence, Disney (and others) will destroy their own market. Then again, Disney has sold 500,000 movie downloads through iTunes, so maybe they’re too pumped on their own adrenaline to see the truth.

I fully support time-shifting, Internet TV (live or recorded), even laptop viewing (sort of mobile), but not actual mobile TV over a cell phone or PDA. I’m not saying there won’t be fans; I’m just saying I won’t ever be one of them, short of a well-designed HUD (heads-up display) that doesn’t interfere with my vision. But not on my cellphone, thank you, and probably not even on a video iPod.
